Dr A. K. DharBrig A.K. Dhar, is a highly competent and dynamic senior consultant in Medical Oncology, who served the Armed Forces Medical Corps, for several years. He is an alumnus of the esteemed King George Medical College, Lucknow and the Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, and is an expert in Bone Marrow Transplant. Dr. Dhar has performed over 70 transplants in both hematological and solid malignancies and established an independent Bone Marrow Transplant Unit & Day Care Chemotherapy Centre at Army Hospital (R&R), New Delhi. He has experience of treating more than 30,000 patients of solid and hematological malignancies and has also performed the first autologous transplant in Indian History in 1983. He has been practicing Medical Oncology since 1994, and has worked with the Indian army in various assignments in and around India. He is credited to have established state of art Day Care Chemotherapy Centre at Army Hospital (R&R), and also to have established a Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at the Army Hospital, New Delhi. Dr Dhar has also contributed to the medical literature, and has 18 publications in both National and International journals. His current areas of clinical interests are in Bone Marrow transplant in malignant disorders, and also treatment for acute Promyelocytic Leukemia. He is also a recognized teacher and examiner at Armed Forces Medical College, Pune. For his unparallel work in the field of medicine, Dr Dhar also received the prestigious Presidential Award- Vishisht Seva Medal in 2010, and also the GOC-IN-C Commendation for dedication to duty and distinguished service. Presently, he is working in Fortis Hospital, Gurgaon. This is Multispecialty Hospital of International repute, and has an Oncology Department, which has all the three modalities of treatment i.e. Medical, Radiation and Surgical Oncology, under a roof.
