Dr. Maitrayee Roy is a pathologist with extensive training and expertise in histopathology with a special interest in oncopathology. She completed her MBBS from Manipal College of Medical Sciences in 2009 as the best outgoing student of her batch. She finished her MD in Pathology in 2013 from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Belgaum, Karnataka, wherein she was awarded the first rank and a gold medal from the University. Post MD, in July 2013 she successfully competed for the senior residency entrance examination conducted by AIIMS and worked as a senior resident for 3 years in the Department of Pathology at the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi from July 2013 till 2016. She was awarded the best senior resident in pathology at AIIMS and received the same from the Honorable Union Health Minister Shri J.P. Nadda in September 2016.

She has undergone exhaustive training in exclusively histopathology and cytology at AIIMS. During her tenure at AIIMS, Dr. Maitrayee Roy has also been extensively trained in various subspecialties of pathology (which are often outside the purview of general pathology training), namely oncopathology, nephropathology, gastro-hepatopathology and gynepathology. During her nephropathology specialty training, she gained experience in immunofluorescence as well as electron microscopy for diagnosing medical renal diseases. Additionally, she has done observership in Neuropathology from the prestigious NIMHANS in Bangalore.

After completing senior residency from AIIMS, she joined the reference laboratory of a reputed diagnostic chain, SRL Clinical Reference Lab (NABL & CAP accredited) in Gurgaon, as a histopathologist. Her work experience at AIIMS and subsequently SRL gave her insight to both the public and private diagnostic health care of the country and armed with all the experience and expertise she is currently partnering her husband in managing Maitri Diagnostic lab in Ambala City.

 

In addition to being an excellent diagnostician, she is also an enthusiastic researcher. She has led the initiative as well as collaborated in various studies and involved in writing many papers, particularly in her field of interest oncopathology. She already has 19 publications including 7 in international and 12 in national indexed journals to her credit. In addition, she has presented numerous papers and posters in both national and international conferences, most notably, at the International Congress of Cytology held in Japan in 2016, Asian Clinical Oncology Society in 2016 and Highlights of the 16th Congress of European Hematology Association.
