My love for skin and aesthetics began quite early when I was just twelve years old. As a little girl, I would play dress up and try on mom's makeup! Hailing from a family of doctors, with my grandfather Dr T. M. A. Pai (The Founder of Manipal University) as my inspiration, I always knew that providing excellent healthcare was what I wanted to do. I was determined to become a doctor and particularly a dermatologist.
I followed my passion and obtained my medical degrees from Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore. I worked as a Senior Resident in the Department of Dermatology at KMC, Attavar, Mangalore and Wenlock District Hospital, Mangalore for 3 years.
Later, I wanted to explore the world of Aesthetic Dermatology and went to New Jersey for a Preceptorship with Dr David J. Goldberg - a pioneer in Laser Dermatology. To take a closer look at skin, I did a Fellowship in Dermoscopy from Cardiff University.
On my return, I set up the Aesthetic Clinic at KMC Hospital, Ambedkar Circle, Mangalore. Since then, I have brought in multiple technologies for the successful treatment of various cosmetic skin problems.
Apart from treating the common skin issues, my passion also lies in helping acid attack and burn scar victims-sadly, a common occurrence in India. To get a deeper understanding, I underwent exclusive training with Dr Matteo Tretti Clementoni, a legend in fractional CO2 resurfacing in Milan.

Skin is the largest and the heaviest organ of the human body, with a surface area of 1.5-2 m2 and contributing to 1/7 to 1/6 of the body weight. It is the body’s largest water storage site, containing almost 1/3 of the total body fluids. It holds 1/3 of our circulating blood, more than even the brain. It constitutes the major energy reserve, with skin fats providing storing energy enough to last 40 days.
It is also a major sensory organ, helping us to know the surrounding environment, to protect ourselves from the possible irritants, to maintain our posture and balance and to initiate a flight and fight response. The sensory function of the skin is so sensitive that it can discriminate the differences in weight of as little as 0.005 gms and react to temperatures between -18oC and +44oC and send nerve impulses with a velocity of 2 metres per sec, to the spinal cord and the brain.
