Cough is the very common problem from which almost all of us suffer from 3-4 times in a year on an average. Sometimes it is mild and sometimes it can be so severe that we may feel difficulty in speaking and swallowing. Cough may cause symptoms like chest congestion, throat infection and irritation and pain in the chest. Cough can be the symptom of some other ailment or can also be due to allergies, blocked airways and change of season. While treating the cough it is always better to opt for home remedies rather than the cough syrups which can cause drowsiness. Following are some of the home remedies for the treatment of cough:
In one teaspoon of honey mix half teaspoon of ginger juice and a pinch of black pepper. Take this twice to thrice in a day to get a relief from the problem.
Drinking the warm water can also improve the condition and it also removes the toxins from the body.
Boil one tea spoon of ginger juice with a 3-4 leaves of eucalyptus in water and then inhale its steam. This will give you a quick relief from the chest congestion.
Take hot soups as they will soothe the throat and will help in the early recovery.
Herbal teas are also very beneficial for a relieve in the cough. In market there are plenty of flavors present so one can choose the favorite one and can get a relief from the problem. Or you can also make your own by taking a few leaves of tulsi, Black pepper, ginger and green tea leaves and then boil them. After that add half teaspoon of pure honey into it. Take this twice a day and get a relief from the problem.
Chew a piece of ginger when feel uncomfortable with constant coughing. This will sooth the irritation and will give you an instant relief.
Putting some tulsi leaves in the mouth can also give you the relief from the cough. These leaves are excellent antibiotic and disinfectant which protects the body against the infections. The essential oils present in the tulsi leaves are also beneficial for the irritating throat.
If you are suffering from the dry cough then chew some ajwain this will also give you the relief from the cough. You can also add some jaggery into it as jaggery will also soothe the throat.
Mulathi is also very beneficial for the cough. Add mulathi while brewing the tea and take this twice a day.
Take half glass of hot milk with half teaspoon of turmeric. Turmeric also gives a relief in cough.
Take a steam of Vicks vapors. This will also provide the relief from the problem because it opens the blocked nasal passages and soothe the throat.
Cloves can also be very effective remedy for the treatment of cough especially when it is due to inflammation and infection in the pharynx.
