Breastfeeding connect the child with the mother emotionally and psychologically. Along with this breastfeeding is very healthy for the child and it provides almost all the essential nutrients for the growth and development of the child. No mother should stop the breastfeeding except if you have some medical issues. Breastfeeding can also protect your child from many diseases also. But for the working mothers this cannot be an easy job. The needs to breastfeed the baby and facing new challenges can be the part of this new phase of life. Following are some of the tips which can help you:
If you are facing so much of difficulties initially then start with the half day working and when you feel comfortable that your child is safe without you then you can go for the full time. You can also work from home for some time. Today companies also provide these types of facilities so speak to them about your requirement and enjoy this beautiful phase of your life.
Drink plenty of water and juices because for the production of milk we need fluids also. After feeding the child drink 1 glass of water.
Take a healthy diet during breastfeeding as the mother needs extra 500 calories for the milk production. Your diet should be consisting of all the essential vitamins and minerals. Add milk, eggs, lean meats, fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet. If your diet will be deficient in these foods then you can also suffer from the nutritional deficiencies in later life. Its a common thinking that we need accurate diet during the pregnancy because we are eating for two. But avoid this myth as the improper diet during this period can lead to the many health problems.
Before returning to the work speak to your management about the breastfeeding breaks and you need small breaks and a private room for pumping the milk. If you are planning to go for some outdoor meetings then also ask for the facilities ahead.
Some people can pass comments on your frequent breaks. But don’t take these people seriously. Just think about your baby and you will not be bothered about these people. You can also keep a photograph of your baby with you; this will keep you relaxed and will also focus on the pumping which will help milk letdown.
Always keep spare bottles, milk storage bag, breast pads and wipes at work. Also carry a small towel and extra shirt with you. Always keep the milk in refrigerator after pumping or you can also carry ice packs to office to keep milk safe for child.
Fix the timings of breastfeed the child. Like before leaving to the office you can breastfeed the child or after coming back from work you can give time to your child. This also gives an emotional security to the child.
