Instacart is an American company that operates a grocery delivery and pick-up service in the United States and Canada. The Company offers its services via a website and mobile app. The service allows customers to order groceries from participating retailers with the shopping being done by a personal shopper. 

It allows customers to shop at local grocery stores via a mobile app or their website, creating a virtual shopping cart that is later fulfilled by a “personal shopper” on a designated day. 

Does Amazon own Instacart?

The move comes a little over a year after Amazon acquired whole foods for $13.7 billion. Amazon has its own delivery service called AmazonFresh.Whole foods and Instacart began working together in 2014. Two years later, they signed a deal for Instacart to become the chain’s exclusive delivery carrier.

How did Instacart get started? 

Mehta started coding an app that became Instacart.”I promised myself that I would not go to the grocery store until the product was ready,” Mehta said at the Y Combinator talk. He became Instacart’s first customer and shopper, ordering groceries on the app and then picking up and delivering it to himself.

People using smartphones know an app should be user-friendly to be useful. The application Instacart appear to fall under this category. This app is colorful and easy to read with a simple interface.

Instacart has more widespread availability. It appears in metro areas and the suburban areas surrounding them in all 50 states, as well as 9 Canadian provinces. 

Basically, Instacart offers customer service via live chat or phone and has a dedicated phone line for assisting older adults with their grocery orders.
