An overexposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation, commonly from the sun's rays can lead to a burn in the skin tissue. A sun burn is reddish skin observed in human skin due to the intensity of the suns rays. Excessive UV radiation is the leading cause of primarily non-malignant skin tumors. The first thing, one should do for sun burn is to scrub your skin followed by applying milk to soothe your skin. But in cases of redness or rash, scrubbing should be avoided.
One of the most effective remedies is to apply honey and lime juice which should be mixed in the ratio of 2:1 and then, washing it off after twenty minutes.
Take 3 tablespoons of ground meals and mix it with half a cup of yogurt. Apply this paste on the face and neck and wash it off.

Another home remedy for a sun burn is to mix two teaspoons of oatmeal with half a cup of ripe papaya. Then, add a drop of honey. Apply the mask and wash off after twenty minutes.
Lime juice and cucumber could be mixed in equal proportions and applied regularly for 20 minutes help to reduce sun burn. Also you may apply cucumber pulp with yogurt over face regularly.
Use coconut oil and sandalwood oil on the skin because they are most effective on burnt skin.
Mixing two teaspoons of tomato juice with four tablespoon of buttermilk and then applying on the face will provide relaxation to your skin. Wash this solution after 30 minutes.
If your skin gets sun burnt, mix olive oil with some vinegar and apply it before bath.
A paste of barley, turmeric and yogurt in equal proportions, when applied over the area of the sunburn provides relief.
